Animation: Updately asks the App Store, Homebrew, Sparkle and GitHub for updates. Each update travels through three checks: size and checksum (when the source publishes one), Apple code signature, and same developer. One download fails the signature check, is refused, and the installed app is left as it was. The App Store update goes to an App Store button instead, because the App Store installs its own updates. The verified updates drop through the MacBook notch into a panel, Update All installs them, and their Dock icons tick up to the new version.

Check

Every app, checked where it comes from.

Each app in /Applications is checked at its real source: the Mac App Store, Homebrew, its Sparkle feed, GitHub, or an Electron app's own update feed. Four honest answers, including Can't verify when nothing trustworthy replies.
A scan runs down a grid of twelve apps. Seven are up to date, three have an update available, one is ignored, and one is marked Can't verify because no trustworthy source answered.

Verify

Nothing installs until it proves itself.

Size and SHA-256 when the source publishes them, an Apple signature from the same developer Team ID, and the developer's EdDSA key for Sparkle apps. Pass them all and it's swapped in, old version to the Trash. Fail one and your app stays exactly as it was.
A Pixelmate update from a Homebrew cask passes three checks: size and SHA-256, Apple signature, and same Team ID. It replaces version 2.0 with 2.1 and the old copy goes to the Trash. A second download, for Tallyho, is signed by a different developer, so it is stopped at the Team ID check; Tallyho 3.0 stays installed, untouched.

Deliver

Updates arrive from the notch.

Updately checks in the background, and new updates spring out of your MacBook's notch. Open Updately and the panel becomes the window; close it and it folds back in.
The notch panel drops down with three updates. The cursor presses Open Updately and the panel grows into the full Updately window, listing each app with its source and status. Closing the window folds it back into the notch.

Restore

New Mac? Bring every app.

Sign in, and a new Mac can pull everything from your Library with Install All. Installers ask for your admin password, App Store apps open the App Store, and the rest get a link to their website.
An old Mac syncs its app list to your Library. On a new Mac, Install All brings the apps over one by one: seven install, one installer package asks for the admin password first, one App Store app gets an App Store button and one app gets a link to its website.

Remove

Delete an app. And everything it left behind.

Updately finds the caches, preferences and support files an app scattered through your Library, and you choose what goes. It all moves to the Trash, so you can change your mind.
An app's card is open and the cursor presses Uninstall. A sheet lists Snapgrid's data in the Library with sizes: caches, its Application Support folder, saved state, preferences and a login helper, all ticked, and one folder under May belong to another app, left unticked. Move to Trash is chosen over Delete Permanently. The app and the five ticked items fly into the Trash while a counter rolls up to 1.3 GB freed; the unticked folder stays where it was.

Quiet the whole time.

Which Macs does it run on?
macOS 14 Sonoma or later, on Apple silicon and Intel Macs. The notch panel appears on MacBooks with a notch; other Macs get the same panel just below the menu bar.
Does it update Mac App Store apps?
It checks them and tells you what's new. The App Store installs its own updates, so Updately opens the right page in the App Store for you.
What happens if an update fails a check?
It stops and tells you which check failed. Your installed app is never touched unless the new version passes every check.
Can Updately delete apps?
Yes. Open an app's card and choose Uninstall. Updately lists the caches, preferences and support files the app left in your Library, with their sizes, and you tick what goes. Everything moves to the Trash by default, so you can put it back; Delete Permanently asks a second time first. It never removes Apple's own apps, and folders that may belong to another app are listed apart and never ticked for you.
Do I need an account?
Not to use Updately or start the free trial. An account is for the Library, which backs up your app list, and for a purchase, which is kept on your account so each of your Macs can use it.
How much does it cost?
